Conduit Dance
1995 – Celebrating 15 Years of PDX Contemporary Dance – 2010
Conduit Dance is devoted to advancing contemporary dance by providing support for the creation of new work, a vital performance forum for the community, and professional training.
Conduit further seeks to create a broad-based community resource for dance artists. As a hub of collaboration with other regional and national dance organizations, Conduit provides a dynamic, inviting contemporary dance center accessible to diverse audiences.
Unlike many other artistic disciplines, dance is not created first on paper and then brought into the studio. Choreographers require a consistent viable dance space, and significant rehearsal time with a company of dancers to create new work. Conduit acts as a crossroad where choreographers, dancers, musicians, costume designers, set and lighting designers can work to develop new collaborations.
A 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization, Conduit aims to continue expanding its role as a nexus for regional, national, and international dialogue on contemporary art, dance, and performance.
